Discover the techniques the pros use to get a flawless finish, every time.
- Begin with the under-eye area. Using a
brush or wand, lightly dab concealer along the darkest area under your
eye in a crescent shape. Be sure to apply to the inner and outer corners
of your eyes as well.
- Take the pad of your ring finger and
lightly dab to blend. Do not pull or rub. This will irritate the
delicate under-eye area and remove the makeup you’re trying to put on.
- Next, apply a light foundation, focusing on the center of the face and blending outward toward the hairline.
- Look
in the mirror and notice your skin tone. It should look even, yet
natural. Lightly dab concealer on any red spots that remain. Blend with
your ring finger.
- Now you’re ready to move on to blush and powder!
Picking the right shade can take your look from spotty to spectacular.
- When choosing a concealer, go for shades
with yellow and peach undertones for under eyes and cool undertones to
neutralize redness on other parts of the face.
- Pick shades that are one half shade lighter than your skin tone. This will brighten while still looking natural.
- Avoid going too light though – reverse raccoon eyes are not pretty!
What to do when concealer just isn’t enough!
Check out these tips and tricks for eliminating those pesky under-eye circles.
- Use
a corrector before applying concealer. The yellow pigments give you an
extra boost of brightness and help cancel out purple tones.
- Brush a small amount of champagne-colored shimmery eyeshadow to the inner corners of the eyes. This trick is an instant wake-up!
- Don’t
forget the upper lids! Apply a concealer with yellow tones to the upper
lids as well. It makes the entire eye area more polished and draws
attention upward.
- Use stay-put formulas when applying dark
colors. Flaky mascaras and powder eyeshadow can fall under your eyes and
accentuate dark circles.
